Tour Salem through the eyes of one of its earliest families. This 1-mile loops will highlight the rustic c.17th Salem settlement.
Stephen Daniels, one of Salem's earliest citizens, experienced the city much differently. 1660s Salem was a rustic but bustling fishing and shipping settlement. He built his house beside the main road, the front door facing an unobstructed view of the ocean, his shipyard just down the cart path we now call Daniels St. On this 1-hour walking tour, we'll explore Salem as Stephen Daniels saw it. Starting and ending at his house, the approximately 1 mile loop will trace the growth of Salem while discovering its original features long hidden or obscured, but not lost.
