NEW LENOX, IL — High school sports have been hugely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Now that restrictions are loosening across the state, various sports have started to practice and compete again. This week, more sports teams have started their spring seasons, including soccer and volleyball. Here is a round-up of Lincoln-Way area scores: Scores are submitted by coaches and sent to Patch. Basketball March 12 Lincoln-Way West High School Girls Varsity Basketball beat Lockport, 62-61 Tara Gugliuzza led the way with 19 points. And Ava Gugliuzza chipped in 16 points. March 13 Lincoln-Way West High School Girls Varsity Basketball falls to Bolingbrook High School 76-69 Tara Gugliuzza scored 31 points in her final game as a Warrior. Ava Gugliuzza scored 22 points. Warriors finish the season 13-3. Soccer March 16 Lincoln-Way West High School Boys Varsity Soccer ties Bolingbrook High School, 1-1 Lincoln-Way Central won against Lincoln-Way East, 3-0 Goals scored by Eddie Rafacz, Zack Davis, and Josh Lucchetti. Ryan Marszalak with the shutout win in goal. March 18 Lincoln-Way West High School Boys Varsity Soccer beat Lincoln-Way East High School, 5-2 Lincoln-Way West scored 5 goals in the second half to lead their team to victory. Lincoln-Way Central boys soccer lost against Homewood-Flossmoor, 1-2 Goal by Niall Gavin, assisted by Josh Lucchetti Swimming March 13 Lincoln-Way Central boys swimming lost against Lincoln-Way East, 69-93 Volleyball March 16 Lincoln-Way West High School Girls Varsity Volleyball falls to Bolingbrook High School, 2-0 March 17 Lincoln-Way Central girls volleyball lost against Lincoln-Way East, 2-0 Rachel Kolodziej had 3 blocks, 3 kills Lincoln-Way Central girls volleyball lost against Homewood Flossmoor, 2-1 Rachel Kolodziej had 2 aces, 4 kills, 2 digs; Caitlyn Rochon had 11 assists, 6 digs; and Carli Udovich had 6 kills, 2 digs) March 18 Lincoln-Way West High School Girls Varsity Volleyball falls to Lincoln-Way East High School 2-0 Emma Young contributed 5 kills and 2 tip kills. She also had 3 blocks against Lincoln-Way East. Bella Been helped with 3 additional kills. Alexa Flores served 3 aces and led the Warriors in 11 assist kills.
