Description
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA —Unexploded fireworks from the fatal residential explosion that killed two people in Ontario Tuesday will be burned Friday, according to a South Coast Air Quality Management District advisory.
The prescribed burns, which will be conducted by bomb squad technicians and firefighters, will begin Friday morning and are expected to continue throughout the day with smoke expected to impact the area, the AQMD advisory reports.
During the early morning hours on Friday, winds from the east and south will push smoke towards the west and north. Around noon, winds are expected to shift and will push smoke towards the east. Neighborhoods directly downwind of the fire may experience unhealthy or levels at times, reports AQMD.
If you smell or see smoke due to a fire, AQMD advises to limit your exposure by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed and to avoid vigorous physical activity.
