Press release from Portland Public Schools: March 18, 2021 Dear PPS Families and Staff, "We are very pleased to share with you that this evening, the Board of Education approved the agreement between Portland Public Schools and the Portland Association of Teachers (PAT) that clears the way for hybrid in-person instruction to begin at PPS schools starting April 1 and 2 with PreK through first grades. Grades 2-5 will begin April 5; grades 6-12 will begin hybrid instruction the week of April 19. The Board's vote came after approval of the agreement by PAT members. A large majority of our families have indicated that they are ready for in-person instruction, and we have spent many months planning the safe return of students and staff to our schools and classrooms.
