CLEVELAND — Health officials confirmed 1,551 new cases of COVID-19 among Ohioans, the state health department announced. On Thursday, there were 2,104 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed among Ohioans. That's the most cases confirmed in the past three weeks, according to data from the Ohio Department of Health. With 1,551 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours, there's been a decline in new cases in Ohio. Ohio also saw a big dip in the number of COVID-19-related hospitalizations. Over the past three weeks, there have been 92 COVID-19 hospitalizations per day in Ohio. On Thursday, there were 156 COVID-related hospitalizations, but that number dropped to 56 in Ohio. More than 22.5 percent of Ohioans have received at least the first part of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state health department. More than 13 percent of Ohioans have received both COVID-19 vaccine shots. As of Friday afternoon, 2.64 million Ohioans had received at least the first shot of the two-part COVID-19 vaccine; and 1.52 million Ohioans have completed the vaccination process. To facilitate vaccine distribution, Ohio has launched its first statewide vaccine registration tool, which can be accessed online.
