To The Staff, Skaters, Portland Fire & Rescue, EMT's, Doernbecher Children's Hospital Dr.'s and Nurses: Thank you all for helping with my son's fall and broken arm during the 5-7pm Open Skate Session last night. From helping my 10 yr old son after his fall, flagging me down, bringing the ice pack, assisting with getting him medical attention, and directing his Mom over to us - Thank You All!!! From what he told me, he lost his balance and fell backwards in the straight practice area off the main rink. It was his first time on "regular" skates, although he had skated there using youth skates several times around 5 years ago. He did very well the 1st hour, and didn't want any help (very independent) like holding hands with me. The Fire Crew and Hospital staff were impressed with how he handled everything, and he asked them all lots of questions while they were treating him. His arm was successfully reset, and put in a cast and sling, and he is resting comfortably. He can't wait to go skating again :) Thank you all for your help!!! - Dad.
