Come join us at Sands Point Conservancy for a socially-distanced walk at your leisure to honor the life and legacy of Matthew Moore.
Matthew Moore was a man fueled with a passion for higher education that allowed him to focus his volunteer and professional efforts on his goal to close the achievement gap by empowering college-bound minority students. As a first-generation college student himself, Matthew's personal achievements inspired the success of many. Matthew earned an Associates Degree at Suffolk Community College. He earned his Bachelors Degree in psychology and Masters Degree in social work from Stony Brook University.
Matthew taught research and statistics at Stony Brook University. He was an Admissions Counselor at Suffolk Community College. He was the coordinator of Literacy Services at Patchogue Medford Library. He also taught English literacy to non-English-speaking adults. Matthew was the First Vice President of the Long Island Latino Teacher's Association, an organization focused on empowering minority youth.
Matthew is dearly missed and has left an indelible mark on many hearts. In honor of Matt's love for nature and hiking, please join us on April 3 for a walk around the beautiful trails of Sands Point Conservancy.
