Over the ten miraculous days of the 2018 April Rebellion, London became host to some truly surreal and spectacular sights. But surely the most iconic of them all was the pink party boat moored to the tarmac of Oxford Circus...With DJs on the deck, barnacles locked-on to the keel, and a sea of rebels dancing and leafleting and making speeches around its hull, the boat represented the entire XR ecosystem in one heaving, joyous, living entity. Far and away the best news to come out of our occupations was that the government declared a climate and environmental emergency, vowing to do better from that year forward! Fast forward to 2021, and the same pledge decried by our local government vowed the same! What a joke! The ‘declaration’ is the ultimate example of where empty promises and dangerous greenwashing from those in power! Ahoy, revelers! Portland XR now has a boat of their own. Making her maiden voyage on the Portland streets on Saturday, March 27th! Will she moor down in all her bright glory for a lonely run, or be joined in celebration? Cosplay or come as you are, everyone is welcome! Come one and all babes and barnacles, pirates & maidens! Wear your masks, please and swim over our city sidewalks to get your shellfish-y selfies with the newest XR Boat in our fleet of climate warriors!
