Hi, I am an EEC licensed childcare provider who has extensive experience with behavior management counseling. I have a background in Psychology and am licensed by both the City and the EEC. I worked with children in residential programs for years and have had experiences with all kinds of children, ages 1m – 28y, with different needs ranging from MR to autism to behavioral issues and adults with both emotional and medical needs. I use a gentle relationship building style. Letting the children know what I expect and what they can expect from me. I explain everything to them leaving no questions. I redirect a lot and use hurdle help to get them through rough moments. I use planned ignoring when they are being impolite. The child will understand that they may receive time outs and that there will be good communication with their families, who can follow up later if they feel it is appropriate. I have a gentle nature, but expect that children listen to directions given by their parents and caretakers. I teach children the benefits of listening to and following directions.
