The Canine Coach will oversee playrooms for cleanliness, safety and fun to ensure our pets have the best day ever. The Canine Coach will engage in games, activities and always ensure full oversight of the dogs in their care at all times. The Canine Coach will clean up after their assigned pets throughout the day and ensure that all pets are fed and properly settled for lunch and nap times. This position will engage in moderate amounts of dog training to redirect behavioral issues before they happen. Duties/Responsibilities: Playroom Supervision: Maintains control of large groups of open play dogs in their assigned playroom at all times to ensure a safe environment. Ability to accurately identify and describe dogs in playrooms, including specific breed identification, names and behaviors. Continuously moving throughout the room with the dogs, showing attention and care to ensure that they are maintaining status as the leader in the room. Constantly interacting with dogs and performing regular tasks such as giving basic commands and practicing door control for new dogs entering or leaving. Behavioral issues are addressed proactively in a timely and effective manner using redirection and positive reinforcement. Crating of dogs for time outs when necessary, but never use of physical force or punishment of a dog to correct undesired behaviors. Aware of the environment at all times and consistently attends to any dogs that may require additional attention, including awareness of dogs that need to be crated when other dogs enter the playroom and identifying dogs that cannot be together. Ability to write accurate and complete report cards with proper spelling and grammar, describing specific dog activity throughout their day or boarding stay for the pet parents and in conjunction with the front desk teams. Safely moving dogs or groups of dogs from room-to-room, ensuring activity level is controlled and no dogs are left unattended. Performing regular body checks (head-to-tail) on all dogs in the playroom during each shift to ensure any illnesses, injuries, or irregularities are taken care of promptly. Reports any concerns to be recorded on the dog’s record. Records notes for feeding or daily behavior for pet parent in conjunction with the front desk team. Cleaning Duties: Playroom is continually monitored and kept free of messes throughout the shift. Daily cleaning assignments including, sweeping, mopping, taking out the trash, refilling/replacing the water bowls, washing dog bowls, picking up dog excrement, vacuuming, and laundry. Following all proprietary cleaning procedures involving the proper use of chemicals to ensure a safe environment for both people and dogs. Daily and weekly cleaning assignments including moving and sanitizing crates, as well as cleaning the walls, floors and play equipment with sanitizing solutions. Grooming and Bathing: Demonstrated ability to bathe any size dog without direct supervision and to company standard. Clean-up of the bathing area upon completion. Ability to clip dog toenails without the assistance of another team member. Additional Responsibilities: Ability to understand and follow without exception the Feeding List, Medication List and Allergy List to ensure that all health standards are met consistently Ability to work cohesively with their team in a respectful and professional manner Effectively communicates both orally and written. Utilizes company tools to communicate relevant information to their supervisor. Maintains a positive attitude and demeanor in all aspects of their position including room management and customer service. Maintains consistent time and attendance standards Follows company dress code guidelines for professional and safe standards Is on time for scheduled shifts and in the case of an emergency calls in advance of their shift to allow time for proper coverage Takes their own development as a personal responsibility and uses mistakes or challenges as an opportunity to grow to a higher standard of performance. Education and Experience: High School Diploma required. Minimum 1 year of customer service focus or animal care services professional work history required. Franchise experience preferred. Other Requirements: Must love dogs. Must be 18+
