This moon is linked to the start of Spring when earthworms surface and migrating birds return as the temperatures warm up.  The Super Full Moon occurs when the Moon is at or near it's closest approach to Earth, making it appear larger and brighter in the sky. The full moon can be observed for several hours throughout the day and night, weather permitting.   "Native Americans called this last full moon of winter the worm moon after the worm trails that would appear in the newly thawed ground.
