WESTBOROUGH, MA — A mass COVID-19 vaccine site will be opening in Westborough, according to State Senate Majority Leader Karen Spilka, D-Ashland. Spilka tweeted the announcement on Thursday, saying the site will be located at the DoubleTree hotel at 5400 Computer Dr. in Westborough and be open to all Massachusetts residents. The site is part of a regional collaborative between Ashland, Holliston, Hopkinton, Northborough, Southborough, and Westborough. Community leaders and legislators in the MetroWest had been pushing for a large vaccine site in the area to easily get residents vaccinated. Spilka did not release information on an opening date. To make the distribution of vaccines more efficient and fair for residents in #MetroWest, a new mass vaccine site for all Massachusetts residents will open at DoubleTree, 5400 Computer Dr. in Westborough. #COVID19MA— Senate President Karen Spilka (@KarenSpilka) March 18, 2021 On Wednesday, Governor Charlie Baker announced that all Massachusetts residents 16 and over will be eligible for a vaccine by April 19. By Monday, hundreds of thousands of essential workers and people in their 60s will be eligible for the vaccine. The announcement comes less than a week after President Joe Biden challenged all states to make every adult eligible for the vaccine by May. Massachusetts has seven mass vaccination sites listed on its website: Gillette Stadium, Fenway Park, the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, the DoubleTree in Danvers, the Eastfield Mall in Springfield, the Natick Mall, and the former Circuit City in Dartmouth.
