From the City of Dunedin: March 18, 2021 Dunedin Parks & Recreation is seeking responsible teen volunteers to be a part of the Teen Leadership Program and work during our summer camp programs. Teens must be age 13 (as of January 1, 2021) through age 16 (as of August 6, 2021). Teen Leaders will work with adult mentors during our summer camp programs and gain a valuable experience while learning leadership skills. Goals of the program - Prepare teens in the community for future leadership roles based on the "Leadership Begins With Me" motto - Instill and develop self-motivation and work ethic - Teach invaluable skills and grow as responsible young adults - Take on future roles within the Parks & Recreation Department Teens will gain experience in - Leadership training - Team building - Communication skills - preparing for the workforce - Volunteering for the community - Gaining individualized training and hands-on experience - Earning community service hours for scholarships/clubs Who should apply: - Teens who are 13 (as of January 1, 2021) through age 16 (as of August 6, 2021) - Teens who can commit to training sessions and 4 weeks of summer - Teens with a positive attitude and who are eager to be a role model Requirements and application process: Applications are available at the Dunedin Community Center (1920 Pinehurst Road, Dunedin) and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center (550 Laura Lane, Dunedin). Selected teens must provide a copy of their birth certificate, obtain a background check, attend trainings and pay a $50 material fee; Pay (must include enrollment paperwork) by May 14th and receive a $15 discount.
