Description

This hands-on class covers the advanced features and information needed to effectively create and/or collaborate on complex documents. This 2-day class is designed for anyone who already has a good working knowledge of Word and wishes to develop greater proficiency and mastery. Class format will provide time for the instructor to recommend best practices, explain new concepts, introduce shortcuts, and answer questions. Participants will have time to apply new skills to realworld scenarios without feeling rushed or frustrated. Prerequisite: Word Fundamentals or equivalent knowledge TOPICS Organizing content using tables and chartsCreating and reusing custom text, table and list stylesInserting repetitive/boilerplate content with Quick PartsUsing templates to automate document creating and formattingOverriding default pagination with line, page and section breaksDesigning and applying publisher-style text flowsWorking with long documents features such as cover pages, table of contents, indexes, outlines and master documentsUsing mail merge to create letters, envelopes, and labelsManipulating images and using custom graphic elements such as text boxes, pull quotes, WordArt and SmartArtTips & tricks for using Word with other programsCollaborating on documents more efficiently with markup & reviewAdding document references and links such as captions, cross-references, bookmarks, hyperlinks and footnotesSecuring document information and restricting accessUsing forms to manage contentAutomating repetitive tasks with macrosINSTRUCTOR Barb Hansen ATTENDANCE Registered participants who fail to attend a class ('no-shows') will be charged full class cost. The 'no-show' fee may not be used as a credit for another EN class, or other type of event or service. A 'late notice' charge (50% of the class fee) will be charged for cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled class starting time.
