Description

We have too many seeds here at NC Cooperative Extension, Lee County Center and we want to share them with 4-H Families. What do you do with those seeds you just found in your gardening shed? Are they viable? Will they grow? Are they worth your effort? Minda Daughtry, Horticulture Agent, can help you answer these questions. Watch our germination video while we test our seeds and then attend our open house (parking lot) to start your vegetable garden with peppers and tomatoes from our abundance. Each Family should bring 4 empty toilet paper or 2 paper towel tubes + 1 additional tube/child. If you have extras bring them to share with someone who doesn't have enough. When you arrive in your time slot you will find: 1 table to make your pots from recycled toilet paper tubes 1 table to fill your pots with soil 1 4-H table for youth to calculate how many pea seeds to plant in the pot. This calculation is based upon the germination video you will watch prior to the workshop. 2 tables with seeds from our stash to begin your starter garden. In approximately 30 minutes you will leave with 5 seeded pots. Please wear a mask. You will be asked to consent to the following forms: https://nc4h.ces.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/4H-Liability-Youth-Waiver-2020-2021-1.pdf?fwd=no https://nc4h.ces.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/4-H-Liability-Waiver-Adult-Attendee.pdf?fwd=no https://nc4h.ces.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/NC-4-H-Code-of-Conduct-and-Disciplinary-Procedure_Oct.2020docx.pdf?fwd=no https://nc4h.ces.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/NC-4-H-Youth-Photo_Media_Release_Oct.-2020.pdf?fwd=no
