GROTON, CT — A Groton restaurant recently named as part of a total 92 Connecticut restaurants to receive a one-time financial grant under the DoorDash "Main Street Strong Pledge," the Connecticut Restaurant Association announced. The Groton restaurant receiving funds is The Fisherman Restaurant at Long Point. DoorDash's $200 million, 5-year Main Street Strong Pledge, is a program to help restaurants, merchants, "dashers" and communities in select cities in the United States and Canada. The restaurant component includes the $10 million grant program. The Connecticut Restaurant Association is teaming up with DoorDash on the initiative, referred to as the Connecticut Restaurant Relief Fund; under the program, struggling restaurants impacted by the coronavirus pandemic can apply for grants of up to $5,000. "We continue to be humbled and honored by the opportunity to support local economies, particularly to help create greater access and opportunity everywhere we operate," DoorDash officials said in a statement.
