Description
Level up your Sewist Skills by Learning to Read Commercial Sewing Patterns! Do you dream of crafting beautiful garments & costumes? Do you find the idea of following a complicated sewing pattern just... overwhelming? I can help with that! While every pattern is different, there is a common "language" that can be understood with a bit of practice and guidance. Soon, you'll be bringing these flat, dull pieces of tissue paper instruction to life! In this beginner course I will teach you everything you need to know to get started using store-bought tissue paper patterns. This includes Explaining the images & verbiage on pattern envelopes to ensure you acquire everything you need to get started on your project. Interpreting the keys & instructions included in the pattern. Tips on translating it to fabric or creating reusable pattern pieces. If you have a commercial pattern you'd like assistance with please bring it! Each guest will leave with the knowledge to take the next step in their sewing journey, and a user-friendly pattern guide! "Learn to Read a Pattern" is taught by Tess, of Fabled Fabrications. A props, accessories, & costume company She started with her boyfriend Joey. The goal of Fabled Fabrications is to work with nerdy groups & individuals to bring their epic fantasy scenarios to life. They currently work with LARPs (Live action role play) to create immersive settings, garb, and characters that bring the fantasy storyline to the next level. Tess could be described theatre geek gone rogue. She has been creating characters and functional art for as long as she can remember. She learned to sew & crochet from her mother in her early teens, and has since used those skills to create costumes for plays & holidays, and personalized gifts for her friends & family. Her repertoire has expanded to include clay & paper mache sculpting, leatherwork, & a bit of graphic design.
