LOS ANGELES, CA — A 43-year-old Duarte man, faces charges of robbery and assault with a firearm for allegedly robbing a Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles at gunpoint when employees asked him to wear a mask, according to the Pasadena Police Department.
Police on Thursday announced the arrest of Steve Carlos Williams in connection with the Feb. 3 robbery on Lake Avenue in Pasadena.
A mask might have come in handy. Detectives circulated security footage from the robbery and connected Williams to the case after he had already been arrested by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department on unrelated charges, according to the Pasadena Police Department.
According to police, the incident occurred when employees asked a man got to wear a mask, and he refused. Instead of donning a mask, the man pulled out a handgun and demanded a bag of food, according to Pasadena Police Department investigators.
"The guy just said, 'Put all the chicken in the bag,'" Roscoe's cook Robert Gonzalez told KTLA. "I understand we got some good chicken, but man."
The robber also made off with other customers' orders on his way out, according to police.
Williams was charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of assault with a firearm. His bail was set at $125,000 dollars.
Pasadena Police is urging anyone with information about this case to call the PasadenaPolice at (626) 744-4241 or anonymously by calling "Crime Stoppers" at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
