ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an Elmhurst DUI suspect, a loaded pistol, theft, a fire, a DUI and driving violations. Here is information from the police reports: DUI and heroin Peter T. Klingelhofer, 41, of Elmhurst, was arrested shortly before noon Wednesday at York and St. Charles on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, DUI (drugs), improper stopping in the roadway and improper lane usage. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to the police report, a search of the car yielded suspected heroin. Loaded pistol Jamarr Jenkins, 27, of Chicago, was arrested about 10 a.m. Monday at Roosevelt and York on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, driving with a suspended license, no front license plate and unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Jenkins was found with a loaded pistol. Theft A 2019 white Dodge Challenger Hellcat was stolen between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Wednesday at Al Piemonte GMC, 364 W. Grand Ave. A gray GT BMX 20-inch bicycle was stolen at 6 p.m. Friday at Southtown Hot Dogs, 103 E. Vallete St. The report was made three days later. A man stole the donation jar from the cashier's counter shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday at 7-Eleven, 572 S. York St. The dollar amount inside the jar was unknown. Bellwood police checked the address listed for the car used by the man, but were unsuccessful in finding him. The store did not wish to press charges. Fire Black smoke was seen coming from the roof at Lennar Multifamily Communities, 183 N. Addison, on Wednesday. Firefighters arrived and put out the fire. An investigation is pending. DUI Darius Williams, 22, of Carol Stream, was arrested about 1 a.m. Wednesday at Roosevelt and Interstate 290 on charges of DUI, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver, transportation of open alcohol, improper lane usage and failure to signal. He was released on bond. Driving violations Jahwanza Johnson, 27, of Chicago, was cited about 2:30 a.m. Thursday at Roosevelt and Route 83 on charges of no valid driver's license, speeding and possession of marijuana by a driver. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt.
