Description
WARRINGTON, PA —The Warrington Township Police Department will join state police and other municipal agencies for a targeted aggressive driving enforcement campaign from March 18 through April 25.
The enforcement will focus on speeding, distracted driving and work zone awareness to reduce the number of aggressive driving related crashes, injuries and deaths on roadways throughout the state.
Police agencies wrote 43,349 citations as part of last year's campaign, including 22,000 violations for speeding, 1,000 for occupant protection infractions and 3,000 for red light violations. They also made 126 impaired driving arrests.
The enforcement is part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project. It is funded by the Newtown Township Police Department's investment of federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
