Canterbury Student Tests Positive For COVID-19

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — A Canterbury Elementary student tested positive for COVID-19 this week, the Heights Schools announced this week. The student was last in the Canterbury building on March 8. Crews did additional cleaning and disinfection of spaces the student was in, including one classroom. The student is now resting at home. Officials have not determined if the student had any close contact with other students or staff, the district said. Since March 10, the Heights Schools have identified one staffer and four students who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the district's COVID-19 dashboard. To stymie spread in the schools, Heights residents are asked to observe the following health protocols: Wear a face maskFollow social distancing of at least 6 feetFrequent hand washing with soap and waterHand sanitizing when soap and water are not availableStaying home when you do not feel wellDisinfecting high-touch surfaces regularlyNot sharing food, drinks, cups and utensilsAvoiding large gatherings of 10 or more people
