Press release from the City of Berkeley: March 18, 2021 SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE Berkeley, California (Thursday, March 18, 2021) - Berkeley PD received a report from two victims, a juvenile and an adult, who were sexually abused by the same older relative when they were children. The abuse of each victim was ongoing when each victim was between five and ten years old. Detectives from the Youth Services Division conducted an investigation, identified the suspect and promptly secured a warrant for his arrest. On March 15, 2021, Berkeley Police detectives conducted a search warrant at a residence in Elk Grove. The suspect, a 63-year old Elk Grove man, was arrested on the arrest warrant and subsequently charged by the Alameda County District Attorney for oral copulation of a victim under the age of 10 years old (PC 288.7(B)) and continuous sexual abuse of a child (PC 288.5). Investigation of sexual assaults and crimes against children are some of the most important work police officers do.
