Alaska Works Partnership, Inc. is a local non-profit providing FREE, HANDS-ON training opportunities that are designed to provide participants with an experiential understanding of a career in the construction trades and enhance participants' abilities to gain employment within the construction industry.
Welding is a 40-hour introductory training which covers vertical and horizontal stick welding, oxygen and acetylene cutting, tools and materials, welding machine set up, hazard awareness, worksite safety, and safe welding practices. Students learn to properly identify joint design and fit-up, electrode selection, and pack, place, and tie Re-bar. Basic rigging training and hand signals also covered.
