Catholic Charities Reopens Veteran Outreach Center

Press release from Catholic Charities Community Services: March 18, 2021 Catholic Charities Community Services' Veterans' Outreach Center has reopened at the Human Services Campus to provide a range of services, resources and support for veterans experiencing homelessness. Located on the campus in the LDRC Building at 1125 W. Jackson St., and open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., services provided include health care and housing connections, traveler's aide, clothing, community support, computer access, hygiene items and necessary documents. CDC health and safety protocols will be enforced. Masks will be required and social distancing guidelines will limit the number of veterans in the Center. Hand sanitizers will be available. "The coronavirus pandemic has caused significant challenges for everyone experiencing homelessness," said Cole Hickman, Catholic Charities MANA House senior program manager. "We're particularly pleased to be able to reopen the Veterans Outreach Center to help the struggling men and women who have served and sacrificed as members of the U.S. armed services." The volunteer-staffed center is managed by Air Force veteran Chuck Ashby, Catholic Charities and MANA House Veterans' Outreach Coordinator. He is supported by volunteers Jesse Gomez, an Arizona State University intern and Marine veteran; Joe Martin, a Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) participant and Air Force veteran; and Navy veteran and SCSEP participant Will Calandra.
