Great for KidsWHAT: People for Palmer Park and Wayne County Parks and Recreation Department present Maple Sugaring @ Palmer Park, a family-friendly, child-oriented, free program on Saturday, March 27. Choose either the morning session beginning at 10 AM or afternoon session beginning at 12:30 pm, each about an hour long. Reserve your space asap—both sessions are limited to only 20 people. LEARN ABOUT MAPLE SYRUP, where it comes from and how it is made! Enjoy a demonstration and walk into the woods to one of our sugar maples, where it will be tapped for its sap! Be sure to dress for this outdoor activity and wear shoes or boots to walk through the woods on trails that may be muddy. WHERE: Park in the Splash Park parking lot, off of Merrill Plaisance near the intersection of Pontchartrain and Merrill Plaisance, north of McNichols and south of Seven Mile Roads. Look for the Community Center, the building covered in brightly colored circles at the end of the parking lot. Look for the signs to meet next to the building. This is an all out-door activity, so please dress appropriately, and bring umbrellas and raincoats if wet. RESERVATIONS: Your must register in advance by reserving tickets for each member of your family on this Eventbrite page—click on the red bar near the top that reads: "Select a Time."
