Huh? I moved here a few years ago and have met more hip musicians here than anywhere I've ever lived. Conservative? What are you talking about? Every musician I know here is 420 friendly and many are accomplished songwriters and great singers who tend to write songs of social protest, nothing conservative about them or their music at all. This is a small town, not sure where you ran into conservative musicians, but what a weird thing to say, and how badly you have missed what's really here. There are some great players in Eugene in a lot of genres, rock, bluegrass, blues, Americana, jazz, folk, you name it. Also a number of hip hop artists here, all quite un-conservative. True that the local venues don't pay very well, and a lot of the best musicians here don't care about performing and keep to their music circles, but I haven't met any conservative people among them, in any way, shape or form. Do you realize that the U of O has a killer music department and alumni have started groups here that are as wild and free as anything anywhere? Do you mean we won't dress up in show biz costumes or play atonal music for fun? Do we not swear enough when we rap? Are our guitars not distorted enough? What are you talking about?
