Description

Please Help our friends at Hayward Animal Services: A volunteer community cat trapper had her vehicle stolen early Sunday morning, March 7. She had just trapped a community cat to have her spayed. The cat was in a trap in the back of her SUV when she made a quick stop nearby to care for some other cats. Her car was turned off and she had the key fob with her. Someone jumped in her car, was able to start it and drove off. The car and person who stole it were located in Hayward on Monday, March 8. The cat was no longer in the car nor was a second empty cat trap. Arresting Officers were unable to get any useful information from the suspect regarding the whereabout of the cat. It is unknown where or when the cat was abandoned, but we are hoping she was released from the trap prior to being dumped. The car was stolen from Montgomery St. near Sunset Blvd. in Hayward and located at Hesperian Blvd. and W. Winton at the Office Depot. Please keep your eyes open for a galvanized steel humane cat trap that may or may not have in it a black colored longhair cat with white paws. There could be a second empty trap and a dog bed nearby. The traps may have linen trap covers over them. We do not have a photo of the cat, but she is described as a long hair black tuxedo cat with white paws and she may be pregnant. Please take a look at any trash or materials that may have been dumped in your area or that you may pass by when traveling around Hayward. If you find the cat or the traps, please immediately contact Hayward Animal Services at . If you find the cat after 5 p.m., please take her to the VCA Bay Area Emergency Veterinary Hospital on Washington Ave. in San Leandro or contact the Hayward Police Department's non-emergency line . No need to contact me. I'm just spreading the message.
