Handsome yellow Lab looking for a new home

Description

Brad is a handsome yellow Labrador, who is estimated to be 7 years old, weighs about 75 pounds, and loves being with people. This large, strong dog may have been an outdoor dog prior to entering the Jackson County Animal Shelter, since he’s had difficulty adjusting to being in homes with new adopters and will pull strongly on a leash. Thus, he will do best with a patient owner, who is home most of the time, to help him learn appropriate house manners and better behavior on a leash. When left alone, Brad gets bored and can be destructive in the house, so crate-training or allowing him easy access to the outdoors in a secure enclosure may be needed. Although Brad is very sweet with people and will probably do OK with young kids, he can be socially awkward when playing with other dogs at the Animal Shelter. He has had a hard time reading social cues and didn't get along with a female dog in a previous home. So, he should meet any other dogs in the household prior to adoption and he may prefer just being the only dog in his next home. His behavior around cats is unknown. Brad has a fatty tumor (lipoma) on his front leg and one on his flank, which often emerge in older dogs, but they aren't bothering him and don't need to be removed. Other than that, he appears to be quite healthy and has good energy for an older dog. His adoption fee has been prepaid by a generous donor so all that is needed is $25 for an annual dog license, if you live in Jackson County. If you can provide a home for this loveable Lab to retire in, please call Barbara at for more information or to schedule a time to meet Brad at the Animal Shelter.
