READING, MA — Staples on Walkers Brook Drive in Reading donated PPE items, including hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes, mask headbands and more, to All Care VNA & Hospice in Lynn. "It is wonderful to see a large international corporation like Staples giving back on a local level. We are so grateful for this donation and were honored to be chosen by Staples," Amy O'Brien, director of Development and Fundraising at All Care VNA & Hospice, said in a statement. Staples has a Charitable Giving program that offers grants and sponsorships to non-profit organizations focused on education, job skills and more. The company also encourages customers, associates and partners to donate on a local level. In Reading, customers and employees are asked at checkout if they would like to donate to their community fund, and each quarter a local non-profit is selected to receive a donation. Since the start of the pandemic, the store has donated to healthcare workers. Jamie Bradley, print and marketing supervisor at Staples in Reading, worked with All Care and suggested the organization as a candidate for the store's donation. He presented the idea to his manager, Mellissa Lajoie, whose mother worked at the agency as a physical therapist. "All Care's home healthcare workers are true heroes caring for people in their home," Lajoie said in a release. "All Care is very community and family oriented, and Staples is too. We thought it was the perfect fit."
