CLARKSTOWN, NY — A New York State trooper's attempt to stop a motorist on Route 202 ended in an arrest after the driver sped recklessly down the Palisades Parkway, police said.
The incident began at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when a trooper saw a 2006 Toyota Corolla on State Route 202 in Haverstraw violating the vehicle and traffic law.
Police said the driver refused to stop when the trooper signaled, instead entering the parkway and driving south, weaving around other cars at up to 85 mph.
The car was stopped at exit 10, police said.
The driver was identified as Jeremy Singh, 24, of Haverstraw. Singh was driving with a suspended license, police said.
He was charged with three misdemeanors: Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd degree, Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle, and Reckless Driving, as well as 12 tickets.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Haverstraw Court on April 19.
