PERRY HALL, MD — The parking situation at Seven Oaks Senior Center is poised to improve, according to a local leader.
Funding was secured in last year's budget to expand the parking area at the senior center on Seven Courts Drive, according to Councilman David Marks, whose district includes Perry Hall.
Construction will start Nov. 2 and be done by April 13, 2022, the councilman said.
It is unclear when seniors may return to the facility — senior centers have been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic since 2020.
"We continue to await word from the governor's office on reopenings," Marks said in a statement Tuesday, March 16.
The governor's latest order, which lifted capacity restrictions on restaurants and other businesses, said that senior centers must still remain closed.
Those most at risk of complications from the coronavirus are older adults, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which reported last month eight of every 10 deaths from COVID-19 occurred in adults age 65 and up.
