Description
PRINCETON, NJ — Looking for a summer job? Princeton Human Services might have just the right program for you.
The department has opened the application process for the annual Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).
Under this program, students from Princeton will get a chance to work at various local nonprofits and municipal departments, over summer break.
Students interested in applying must be Princeton residents aged 14 to 18 years, as of July 15.
Their family income must not exceed 400 percent of the 2020 US federal poverty level.
Participants work 25 hours a week and earn a minimum wage ($11.10/hr) for eight weeks during the summer.
In the summer of 2019 Princeton Human Services provided summer jobs to nearly 40 students. Last year due to the pandemic, in-person programs were cancelled but students were offered a virtual entrepreneurship program.
In a media statement, Melissa Urias, Director of Princeton Human Services said that as this program "continues to expand, we will offer SYEP participants new career building opportunities by supplying a variety of employment sites, resume writing skills, and interpersonal interviewing techniques in order to facilitate teens as they transition into the adult workforce."
Applications are available at the Princeton Human Services office in Monument Hall. It can also be downloaded online at https://nj-princeton.civicplus.com/755/Summer-Youth-Employment-Program.
The deadline to submit the application is April 30.
For more information on the program, call Princeton Human Services at (609) 688-2055 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or send an e-mail to [email protected].
