Description

Mindful Mandalas Family Art Therapy, w/ Etta Canady, ATR Sat, April 10th 7-8:30PM Mandalas are circle designs that symbolize the idea that life is a never-ending process where everything is connected. The same can be said of the family. No matter the condition of relationship(s), there is a never-ending bond of connection. In an effort to plant seeds of HOPE, family members will work together to create a family mandala that builds on the individual strengths that each person can contribute to the overall health, wealth, and development of the family unit. The objective of the group is to create an image that will serve as a reminder of the ties that bind them together in support, strength, and love. -$25/one child + one adult; $5/additional family members -Designed for children 8 years or older -We kindly ask you to pre-register in advance! What is Art Therapy? The official definition from the American Art Therapy Association: “Art therapy is the therapeutic use of art making, within a professional relationship, by people who experience illness, trauma or challenges in living, and by people who seek personal development. Through creating art and reflecting on the art products and processes, people can increase awareness of self and others, cope with symptoms, stress and traumatic experiences, enhance cognitive abilities, and enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of making art.” Simply put… Art Therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses the creative process of making art to improve a person’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
