Fifth Mass Vaccination Site Opens In Philly, More Opening Soon

PHILADELPHIA — Vaccine administration in Philadelphia is increasing, as officials Wednesday opened a new standing mass vaccination clinic. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health and Grand Yesha Ministries, along with City of Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and City Council member Kenyatta Johnson Wednesday morning together opened the new clinic in South Philadelphia. The fifth clinic run by the city is located at the Grand Yesha Ballroom, 2308 Snyder Ave. Officials said the site can vaccinate 500 people per day. Walk-up vaccinations are available to residents 65 or older and people with serious health conditions. This is the first city-run clinic in South Philadelphia, with a second clinic opening just two days later. The other South Philly site is the Edward O'Malley (EOM) Athletic Association at 144 Moore St. Earlier this week the city opened a site at Mastery Charter Simon Gratz High School, 1798 W. Hunting Park Ave. Two more sites are set to open next week as well. They are the Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein German American Club, 9130 Academy Road, and City Facility, 7800 Ogontz Ave. Sites already open are: Community Academy Charter School, 1100 E. Erie Ave.Center City Vaccination Center at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 100 N. 12th St.MLK Older Adult Center, 2101 Cecil B. Moore Ave.University of the Sciences, Bobby Morgan Arena, 835 S. 43rd St. Philadelphians who want to get the coronavirus vaccine can fill out the vaccine interest form online here.
