CBS Philadelphia March 17, 2021 Philadelphia police are increasing their patrols in Asian communities and businesses across the city following a series of shootings in the Atlanta-area that left eight people dead, many of Asian descent. The shootings have raised fears that the attack was yet another hate crime against Asian Americans. Although there is currently no known connection to the Philadelphia region, police say they are increasing patrols "out of an abundance of caution." "We are continuing to monitor the events around the tragic shooting of Asian Americans in Atlanta," Philadelphia police said Wednesday on Twitter.
