BERKELEY, CA — A Berkeley police officer was fired for violating the city's use of force policy when she fired her gun at a vehicle associated with robbery last year, Berkeleyside reports. Officer Cheri Miller committed no crime according to the report. The report cites documents obtained from the Berkeley Police Department through a Public Records Act request. Patch could not confirm the circumstances of the case but a police department spokesperson told Patch that Miller had been "released from probation" as an at-will employee, as Berkeleyside reported. Miller claimed she fired her gun at the driver in the suspected getaway vehicle because she feared he was going to run her over, but inadvertently fired at the vehicle after losing her footing, the report said.
