The Center for Mediation & Training offers free separation, divorce, and custody mediation for married and unmarried couples on Wednesday evenings as part of our No-Fee Service. We provide services to all people in need, regardless of their ethnicity, nationality, gender, race, religion, age, or sexual orientation. NO-FEE SERVICEIn our No-Fee Service, we see couples free of charge for up to eight sessions. This service is held on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 and 6:30 PM. Appointments are required. All appointments are currently conducted online. The Center also offers service on a sliding scale for people who are unavailable at the designated time or who would like to be seen outside of the No-Fee Service for whatever reason. WHAT IS MEDIATION?Mediation is an equitable, efficient, and private way to settle issues with your partner, spouse of other family members. Trained in the art of conflict resolution, mediators help you become "unstuck", explore new options, reach solutions, and move on with your lives. You and the other party will both actively participate in the negotiations, leading to reasonable solutions and a mutually satisfactory agreement that considers everyone's needs. When children are involved, mediators help couples separate their spousal/partner role, which is ending or has ended, from their parental role, which is continuing. For couples with children, mediation sessions may address custody and parenting issues, as well as property and support. If a couple is already separated or divorced, then mediation may be used to resolve post-separation family issues. Following mediation, attorneys draft and file all necessary legal documents.
