NORTHPORT, AL — The first round of interviews for the open Northport city administrator job began on Tuesday, as Northport Police Chief Gerald Burton and University of Tennessee employee and former Anniston city manager Rick Whitehead fielded questions. The second set of interviews will be conducted at the same times Thursday, beginning at 5:15 p.m. with Nathan Patterson, who serves as interim assistant director and previously as deputy director for the City of San Diego. Tuscaloosa City Attorney Glenda Webb will be the last candidate interviewed on Thursday and the council will then either make a decision on a hire or consider other candidates who didn't make the short list of the top four candidates. In honoring the request of city officials, Patch will not publish any information on the questions asked of the candidates until after the interviews are finished, in an effort to ensure the integrity of a fair hiring process.
