Funding Will Help Organizations Meet Needs Related to COVID-19 Northside Church in Buckhead announces it has provided $200,000 in funding to six Atlanta-area nonprofits. The grants will help the church’s mission partners continue to meet the increased demand for assistance caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The primary focus areas of Northside Church’s mission program are housing and hunger. The organizations receiving funding include: Buckhead Christian Ministry, Covenant House Georgia, Food Security of America, Good Samaritan Health Center, Habitat for Humanity and Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center. Lynette Brown, director of missions, said, “Northside Church has long-term partnerships with each of these organizations. Last year, early in the pandemic, we provided support to several mission partners and thanks to the generosity of our congregation, we are thrilled to be in a position to provide funding again this year. The work of each of these organizations is vital to the communities they serve, especially during such a challenging time.” Funding amounts include: $30,000 to Buckhead Christian Ministry for rent assistance; $50,000 to Covenant House Georgia for its capital campaign to build an independent living apartment; $30,000 to Food Security of America for food assistance; $30,000 to Good Samaritan Health Center for the completion of its mobile kitchen; $30,000 to Habitat for Humanity toward a whole-house build; and $30,000 for Murphy-Harpst Children’s Home in Cedartown for building outdoor furniture for youth who have not been able to leave the campus during the pandemic. “As you can imagine, our work over the past year has been intense,” said Keeva Kase, president and CEO of Buckhead Christian Ministry. “Prior to the pandemic, our direct client benefit for rent and utilities stood at around $900,000. Since March of 2020, that amount has increased to more than $2.5 million. The grant is great news and is truly inspiring and encouraging.” About Northside Church, A United Methodist CongregationNorthside Church is a 5,000-member congregation established in 1950.
