Press release from the Atlanta Police Department: 03/17/2021 Update: :View Piedmont Rd Homicide Press Conference Here: Piedmont Press Conference March 17 2021 A press conference to discuss the Piedmont Rd homicide investigation will be held at Atlanta Public Safety Headquarters - 226 Peachtree SW Atlanta, GA 30303 at 10:30am today March 17, 2021.  Those attending can enter the building at the main entrance and will be met by a Department member and escorted to the briefing room. Please remember that a temperature check will be conducted prior to entry and masks are required at this event. The press conference will be streamed on Facebook Live:  https://www.facebook.com/AtlantaPoliceDpt/  Previously Released: Piedmont Road Homicide Investigation Post Date:03/17/2021 12:35 AM On 3-16-2021, at around 5:47 PM, officers responded to a business robbery in progress call at 1916 Piedmont Road in Northeast Atlanta. Upon arrival, officers located 3 females deceased inside the location from apparent gunshot wounds. While still on scene, officers were advised of a shots fired call across the street, at 1907 Piedmont Road. Officers immediately responded and checked the location, finding 1 female who appeared to have been shot and was deceased inside the business.    At this time, investigators are gathering information from both scenes to determine exactly what occurred.   Many have asked whether these shootings are related to Cherokee County's shootings. Video footage from our Video Integration Center places the Cherokee County suspect's vehicle in the area, around the time of our Piedmont Road shootings. That, along with video evidence viewed by investigators, suggests it is extremely likely our suspect is the same as Cherokee County's, who is in custody. Because of this, an investigator from APD is in Cherokee County and we are working closely with them to confirm with certainty our cases are related.   Having these two shootings occur at massage parlors and with knowledge of Cherokee County's shootings, Zone 2 commanders quickly dispatched officers to check nearby similar businesses and patrols have been increased in those areas.    We are working to coordinate a press conference for 3-17-2021 AM, with the time and locating to be determined.    Please keep in mind the above information is preliminary in nature and is subject to change as the investigation progresses and new information comes to light.         Officer Steve Avery Public Affairs Unit Atlanta Police Department 226 Peachtree St. SW | Atlanta, GA 30303 Ph: 404-546-6963 |cell: 404-971-4152 [email protected]   This press release was produced by the Atlanta Police Department.
