Acoustic and electric. Cotton Picking, Travis picking, country blues, ragtime, chord melody, trad jazz, singer/songwriter, semi-classical. Excellent chart reader, plodding note-reader, sing reliable harmony. I can record remotely now, and starting May 1, I will be vaccine-cleared and ready to venture out more. If you like the way these folks play you will probably like my playing: Ry Cooder, Rev Gary Davis, Elizabeth Cotton, Mississippi John Hurt, Leo Kottke, Merle Travis, Doc Watson, Taj Mahal, Scotty Moore, Chet Atkins, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Pat Donahue. I also play mandolin, bass, and banjo. I do an 8-week crash course in finger-picking for guitarists who are already chord-adept but need the right hand stuff, using the techniques of the above artists plus instructional pieces I created for the purpose during my ten years of University teaching.
