BOSTON, MA —Boston will receive $435 million in aid from the federal government as part of the American Rescue Plan, a relief package signed by President Joe Biden on Thursday. The package includes funding to increase vaccinations, provide grants to small businesses, and support restaurants reopening.
"This bill is meant to address a problem of such enormous scope that is unprecedented, that the bill itself had to be of equal scope and equal impact," said Rep. Stephen Lynch.
The aid is determined based on how much revenue cities and towns have lost due to the pandemic, as well as areas that had higher levels of impact, such as those that did not have a strong health care infrastructure. There is $7.6 billion in the nationwide plan for community health centers, which Lynch noted has a strong presence in Massachusetts.
