Literacy Volunteers of Methuen provides free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring to adults who wish to gain basic literacy skills or learn English. Tutors are trained and provided with ongoing support and resources from the Nevins Memorial Library. Attending a 1-hour orientation session and a 12-hour, 3-week training program is mandatory. After completion of training, tutors will be matched with a student with whom they will work for at least 9 to 12 months for 2 hours every week. Tutors make a real difference in their students' lives–many students go on to earn professional credentials, U.S. citizenship, and academic achievements. The next info session will take place on March 22 at 6pm, and training begins on April 12. Please get in touch even if you're not able to start in the spring; other trainings will happen soon!
