MARYLAND — CVS Health began administering COVID-19 vaccines to eligible populations at dozens more stores across Maryland over the weekend, the company announced. CVS stores participating in the COVID-19 vaccination program are in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Garrett, Harford, Montgomery and Prince George's counties. The company plans to add more stores and communities as supply availability increases. Those who meet state eligibility criteria as well as teachers, school staff and child care workers will be able to get the vaccine at CVS locations participating in the vaccination program, sourced through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. People can register in advance at CVS.com or through the CVS Pharmacy app. Those without online access can call CVS Customer Service at 800-746-7287. Appointments are required to get the COVID-19 vaccine; walk-ins are not allowed. As of Monday, March 15, the CVS site was showing all appointments as fully booked except one: AberdeenAbingdon Annapolis Ashton Baltimore Beltsville Bethesda Bowie Brandywine BurtonsvilleCamp Springs Capitol Heights Chevy Chase Clarksville College Park Colmar Manor Columbia Derwood District Heights Dunkirk Easton EdgewoodEldersburg Elkton Fallston Forestville Fort Washington Frederick Fulton Gaithersburg Gambrills Germantown Glen Burnie Greenbelt Hagerstown Havre de Grace Hollywood Hyattsville La Plata Landover Landover Hills Lanham Laurel Leonardtown Millersville New Carrollton Nottingham OaklandOcean City Owings Mills Oxon Hill PasadenaPikesville Poolesville Reisterstown Riverdale Rockville Salisbury Seat Pleasant SevernSeverna Park Silver Spring TaneytownTowsonUpper Marlboro Waldorf Walkersville Westminster Wheaton White Plains People were to be able to begin booking appointments for the latest allocation of COVID-19 doses Saturday, March 13, according to a statement from CVS. "We're proud to play a part in increasing access to the vaccine to as many people as possible to enable reopening efforts in the communities we serve," said Neela Montgomery, president of CVS Pharmacy and executive vice president of CVS Health, in a statement. CVS has been adding stores to the list of stores previously activated in Maryland for vaccine distribution. Only the Oakland location in Garrett County had any availability as of Monday afternoon. The addresses of the stores were not listed. "We are not providing the list of specific vaccination stores. Because locations and supply are limited, we want to prevent stores from being overwhelmed by those who may seek a vaccination without making an appointment," Amy Thibault, a spokesperson for CVS, said in a statement to Patch. "Vaccinations will be by appointment-only, and we want to encourage eligible patients to use our online scheduling tool to find a location that is convenient for them to access." Some sites received a "very small supply of the J&J vaccine," Thibault said, explaining why CVS said 37 stores would be offering the vaccine yet 70 were listed on the website for booking a vaccination appointment.
