CONNECTICUT — Multimedia journalist Suzie Hunter, WTNH-TV's one-person roving reporter, announced she is leaving the station after three years to move back home to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her last day is Friday. "This is largely a mental health decision," Hunter wrote on her Twitter page. "It's been a tough year for all of us and I know I'm not alone when I say, I feel like I haven't had a chance to come up for air." She referred to the decision as "truly bittersweet," because she'll miss Connecticut, the state where she started her professional career. Before News 8, Hunter worked at the Hartford Courant for four years as a multimedia journalist. As a multimedia journalist, Hunter traveled around the state covering sports and features, doing her own camera work, editing and internet posting on-the-fly. Hunter also said the move will allow her to do some things she hasn't been able to do in years. Among other things, Hunter is a big Eagles fan, so catching some games at The Linc might be in her future. "Yes, it's sad, but more than anything it's exciting," she wrote. "I can't wait to be closer to family for a bit. Even before the pandemic, I haven't even spent a holiday with them in years. I truly can't wait to take a deep breath and find some much-needed balance in my life." Follow her future endeavors @TheSuzieHunter on all social media platforms. Enjoy it while you can, folks.
