Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions - Intake & Foster Assistant Volunteer

Jobs

2675 E Flamingo Ave near Eastern Avenue, Henderson NV

Description

Taking in cats is a part of what we do. In fact, it’s one of the most important things any animal rescue does! This is when we check the health and temperament of every animal that comes into our care and helps us decide if they’re a good fit for the shelter or need foster care to really shine. We are looking for a volunteer to aid with our intake process and foster home communications. Some responsibilities include: • Reviewing foster applications and home visits (if needed) • Training new fosters & gathering supplies, maintaining phone/email communications • Prepare & send weekly medical schedule: vaccines, dewormer, S/Ns, etc. due or overdue • Assisting with intake process: review forms, aid with initial exam and vaccinations • Scanning paperwork into database, set reminders for vaccine due dates, rabies tags, etc. Volunteers for this position are needed from Sunday to Thursday, 12pm to 6pm – though we can always work with your schedule and would still love your time, even if it’s just a few hours! We will provide 100% of the training needed for this position. All we ask is volunteers are: • Fit to stand, squat, bend, twist, and lift • Comfortable handling cats that are scared in a new environment and may need special handling • Able to use chemical cleaning solutions (to clean and disinfect the facility) • Experienced in cat handling and behaviors – or open and interested to know more! • Familiar with basic technology, i.e. phones, computers, printers At our facility, we often have a revolving door of kitties coming and going (which is a great thing!) and need extra hands to help us efficiently examine our cats, get them where they need to be, and help our foster families care for our animals. Homeward Bound Cats is a modern, free-roaming adoption center that minimizes the stress experienced by homeless cats and makes it easier for them to find loving families. When owners are no longer able to care for their pets, we offer an alternative to taking them to a shelter or leaving them on the street. Visit www.homewardboundcats.org to learn more about us and fill out a volunteer application!
