NEWARK, NJ — Six families, including 17 adults and nine children, had to relocate after a fire in Newark on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, about 70 firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire on Wolcott Terrace, which took place at a two-story, wood-frame duplex home.
Firefighters reported a roof collapse, with a firefighter suffering a minor injury and remaining on duty, authorities said.
The fire was placed under control at 3:03 p.m., authorities said.
The Newark Fire Division's Arson Unit is investigating the cause and origin of the blaze. No additional information was immediately available.
