ROSS VALLEY, CA — San Anselmo's fire station will take a bigger role serving a neighboring town that has moved to ditch its own fire station, The Marin Independent Journal reports.
The town of Ross on Thursday approved a $14.6 million plan town government renovation plan that includes demolition of the town's fire station and among other structures, the report said.
Most of the structures will be rebuilt, but town officials said it can't afford to rebuild the fire station according to the report.
The town will primarily rely on the San Anselmo and Kentfield fire stations, which are 1.1 and 0.7 miles from Ross according to the report.
Ross is among four towns that share firefighting services through the Ross Valley Fire Department, the report said. Fairfax, San Anselmo and Sleepy Hollow are the others.
