Description

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — North Fair Oaks, an unincorporated area bordering Redwood City, had inaccurate COVID-19 case numbers displayed on San Mateo County's dashboard for months, according to the Mercury News. Until last November, the county's dashboard indicated the community of 14,500 residents had only 10 COVID-19 cases. It wasn't until concerned residents raised questions that the county adjusted the dashboard to reflect accurate figures. As of Monday, North Fair Oaks, which borders Menlo Park and Redwood City, had 1,682 cases. And its case rate per 10,000 residents is 1,170 cases — much higher than that of its neighbors. The Mercury News reported that the community's case count was instead being attributed to Menlo Park and Redwood City, but that the county's health department was aware of the actual figures despite the inaccurate information displayed publicly.
