San Diego County Reports 5-Month Low In New COVID-19 Cases At 178 And No Virus Deaths

By Elizabeth Ireland, Times of San Diego March 16, 2021 The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency reported 178 new coronavirus infections Monday and no additional deaths. That's the lowest number of new daily positives since Oct. 15, when the county reported 143 cases. Monday's data increases the total number of confirmed cases in the region since the pandemic began to 265,649 and the death toll remains at 3,452. Of 8,659 tests reported Monday, 2% returned positive. The 14-day rolling average is 2.9%. Hospitalizations on Monday increased to 300 from Sunday's 297, while patients in intensive care beds remained at 95. There are 69 staffed, available ICU beds in San Diego County. There were no new community outbreaks reported Monday, with 15 reported in the last seven days.
